For two years, Adam was part of the Ciampi Tax + Advisory team, joining us as an intern while pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Quinnipiac University. Since graduating this spring, Adam has begun his full-time career in finance and relocated to Florida, where he is now living and working near his family.

We caught up with Adam to reflect on his experience with our team, what he learned along the way, and how his time at Ciampi Tax + Advisory helped shape his career.

How he balanced his MBA program with an internship:

“I saw it as a great opportunity to build my education and professional experience at the same time. Completing my MBA gave me a good base understanding of general business principles, while working at Ciampi Tax allowed me to apply many of those concepts in real world scenarios. At times, balancing an internship with my schoolwork was challenging, especially during finals or tax season. However, the experience pushed me to improve my time management, organization, and ability to prioritize different responsibilities. I also became much better at meeting strict deadlines, and holding myself accountable. Those are skills that have carried over into my full-time job.”

How his time at Ciampi Tax + Advisory shaped the path that got him there:

“My internship played a big role in helping me transition from being a student into working full-time. I learned how important accuracy, attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and confidentiality are in a professional setting. It gave me a strong foundation and helped me become more confident working independently and in teams. Hands-on experience working with financial statements, QuickBooks, and client data gave me the opportunity to apply accounting, finance, analytics, and technology concepts I learned in the classroom to real-world business situations.

I was also able to draw on what I learned during my job interviews. Having real-world experience increased my confidence and provided me with examples and scenarios to share when discussing my skills and knowledge.

The project that stood out most:

“One project that stood out was when we switched Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, and I was responsible for transferring client data from the old CRM system to the new one. That experience showed me how important attention to detail and data cleanliness is, especially when working with large amounts of information. One small error can create major issues later on, so it taught me to be thorough and always double check my work.”

His advice for students considering a career in finance or accounting:

“Ask questions, volunteer for different projects, and try to understand why you’re doing something rather than just completing the steps. At Ciampi Tax, I had the opportunity to see all sides of the business, from bookkeeping and tax preparation to data analysis and marketing. Getting exposure to different clients and different types of work helped me develop a broader skill set while also figuring out what I was good at and what I enjoyed. Try to learn something new every day and be open to stepping outside of your comfort zone.”

Congratulations on all you’ve accomplished, Adam! We’re grateful for the time you spent with Ciampi Tax + Advisory and the contributions you made along the way. It’s been a pleasure watching you grow, and we’re excited to see where your career takes you next.
